Super Family Fun Day Weekend

Carteret County Parks and Recreation offers Super Family Fun Day Saturday, May 21, at Fort Benjamin Park, 100 McQueen Ave., Newport.   Call 252-222-5858 or register online at Carteret County Parks and Recreation.  Register at 8:30 a.m. for the Superhero Scramble (1 Mile run at 9 a.m.; 5K run at 9:15 a.m.)  Entry is $15 per person (includes free admission to Family Fun Day event below).  Costume contest for best dressed Superhero. The Family Fun Day Event is from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  Inflatables, games, toys, food, music… and Superheroes.  Admission is $7 per person (for those not participating in Scramble).  Children 3 and under are free.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina Kayak and Paddleboard Race

Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina present a Kayak and Paddleboard Race Saturday, May 21, at Taylors Creek in Beaufort.  3-mile course.  $30 per person entry.  Race meeting at the Beaufort town dock is at 9:15 a.m.  Call 252-726-6584 or go to www.bgccc.net.

Hands Across the Sand

“Hands Across the Sand” is Saturday, May 21.  Two locations:  Fort Macon State Park public beach area off NC 58 just beyond Atlantic Beach, and at Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier area, 100 Bogue Inlet Drive, Emerald Isle.  Meet at 11:30 a.m.  Hold hands for 15 minutes on the shoreline beginning at 12 noon as an expression of opposition to offshore drilling and seismic blasting.  Bring your own picnic to enjoy after the event.
